IHHA suffered a grievous loss when it lost two of its senior members. The founder and executive committee member, Thakur Manvendra Singh Rohet passed away in January after an unfortunate road accident. He was an active member of the IHHA. A pioneer in the concept of village safaris in the Jodhpur district – he always believed in Responsible Tourism and the concept of giving back to society. He was also a keen sportsman.
The senior executive committee member, Mr. Francis Wacziarg, Co-owner of Neemrana Hotels passed away in February this year. He first landed in India as a radical journalist, just after the 1968 socialist student movement in Paris, to write for a leftist magazine. Eventually, with his successful buying house and Neemrana model of experiential and honest heritage hospitality he became a benevolent entrepreneur with all his employees almost as comrades.
